C. H. Spurgeon Letter — Yours for a Price

16 03 2012

If anyone has a few hundreds dollars laying around, here is quite the prize for a Baptist.  Up for auction, Lot No. 82, from Bonhams in England is a letter by C. H. Spurgeon.  Below is the description.

Autograph letter signed (“C.H. Spurgeon”), to “Dear Sir”, stating that “I never baptized an infant in my life, & am more than ever convinced that the practice is unscriptural, & that the doctrine connected with it is injurious… No one can be more firm in Baptist views than I am. Believers only should be baptized, or immersed, upon profession of their “faith”, 2 pages, repaired with adhesive tape, stained and faded, 8vo, Upper Norwood, 26 October 1887

Estimate: £400 – 600, € 470 – 710

In dollars, the estimate is between $600 to $900.  Probably more than Spurgeon made a year in 1887.  Here is a link to a photograph of the letter.  Since it is a copyright image, I did not want to post it.  Spurgeon Letter.
